If you have a spare room in your property based in GTA that is fully equipped, clean and in a good state of repair, then hosting students can be an extra source of income for you, as well as a very rewarding and interesting experience.
Trust Homestay has a wide variety of students arriving throughout the year, and we strive to find guest-matches that are most appropriate for you and your accommodation.
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM OUR HOSTS?
Your home must be in a good state of repair, clean and tidy, and must be a safe environment for anyone who stays with you.
The room offered must be a spare room and have adequate furniture including:
One bed per guest
3 healthy nutritious meals per day
An empty wardrobe/chest of drawers with space for their belongings
Hanging facilities or space to hang clothes
A bedside table with a lamp
A desk to study (unless they can study comfortably and uninterrupted elsewhere in the home)
Your personal belongings must be out of the room so that the guests have space and so that there is no risk of loss or damage
There must also always be sufficient heating and lighting in the bedroom
Provision of towels and a laundry service/linen change once a week
You as a Host
As a host we expect you to be welcoming and interested in providing a good experience for the students that we place with you, with care and sensitivity to their needs and welfare during their stay in Toronto. We would like our hosts to treat the students as part of the family and to include them in conversation as much as possible.
Meals
You will generally be required to provide meals for the students depending on what meal plan they have booked. These options can include breakfast, packed lunch and dinner. Meals must be varied, substantial and nutritionally balanced. Meal times are a good opportunity to sit with the students and talk about their day.
Hosting rules and capacity:
Please respect the maximum of 2 students per home
Never mix under 18-year-old female and male students in one household
You must not mix under 16 and over 18 guests in your home
Please never engage in direct bookings with the students – if they wish to extend then please inform a member of Trust Homestay
