Custodianship Services

Custodianship.jpg

Citizenship and Immigration Canada requires foreign students studying in Canada to have a legal guardian in place if they are under the age of majority, which in most provinces is 18 years old. Through our Gustodianship program, temporary custody of your child is given to Trust Homestay for the duration of the school year. A Trust Homestay guardian acts in place of parents to provide assistance with emergencies, accommodation, immigration, travel, and the overall success of your child.

What is a CUstodian?

A custodian is an individual who has been legally designated by parents/ guardians to provide care for a minor child (under the legal age of 18) while he/she studies in Canada for a temporary period of time. The custodian is responsible for representing the parents/ guardians and is expected to provide proper care and supervision to the student as required such as in times of medical emergencies. The custodian will be the official contact for the student in regard to all school matters.

All applicants must supply a notarized Custodian Declaration —which is signed by the parents or legal guardians in the country of origin, in addition to one signed by the legal custodian in Canada—stating that the legal custodian is to act in place of a parent if the parents are not in Canada. This form can be found here:
